Feb. 21, 2025 – Wellington, FL – Over 300 equestrians and members of the South Florida running community turned out for the fourth annual Strides for Hope 5K Walk/Run on Monday, raising over $90,000 for EAF’s mission of helping horse people overcome medical crises and other unforeseen catastrophes. In response to the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires, $35,000 of these proceeds will be allocated to EAF’s Disaster Relief Fund.

Clocking among the fastest times in the Strides for Hope’s four-year history, Nora Jodrey (18:30) and Denis Sweeney (19:05) won top honors. Behind Jodrey, Gillian Kennedy and Sydney North rounded out the top three female finishers. Hunter Kay and Don Stewart were second and third in the men’s division.

It was a joy to see so many returning equestrians, families, and teams on the track again this year, along with an abundance of new faces,” said EAF board member Louise Riggio, whose MeadowView Farm also sponsored the morning’s Kids Dash. “EAF’s mission is about bringing our community together, and this morning did not disappoint.”

A record 29 teams also competed in four team challenges associated with the race. Team Ingram won the Feiner Equine Fundraising Challenge, raising $9,575 for EAF’s mission. For the fourth year, Team Beacon Hill won the New Hope Friend-raising Challenge, with 26 walkers and runners participating in the race. Heritage Farm defended its title as the fastest team in the Eq  uiFit Speed Challenge, and Liz Soroka’s “Bedrock Babes” clinched the alice + olivia Team Theme contest.

“Between medical crises and the growing prevalence of natural disasters, EAF is busier than ever serving the horse world,” said EAF board member R. Scot Evans. “We are so grateful to our race sponsors, participants, and all of our community who so wholeheartedly support this event. EAF’s impact belongs to all of you.”
